Everyday Rituals with Cristina Lynch of Mi Golondrina
Creative Living
by Jen Pinkston
Early one April morning, our team headed up I-35 to Dallas for our Spring RTW preview at Hotel Swexan. But first, we made a meaningful stop. I couldn’t be in Dallas without taking the opportunity to sit down with a founder I’ve long admired—not only for the intention behind her work, but for the grace with which she’s built her business over the past decade.
Cristina Lynch, founder of Mi Golondrina, welcomed us into her beautiful home and offered a glimpse into the closet where her pieces come to life—each one shaped by the stories and experiences that have defined her journey.
Read on for the full interview.
1. You and Katie both launched your businesses in 2013. Looking back now, what feels most different about the person you were then—and what’s exactly the same?
The biggest change is that I became a mom in 2019. I always dreamed of starting a family, but I didn’t realize how deeply fulfilling that chapter would be. I love sharing Mi Golondrina with my children. What hasn’t changed is my love for the business and the passion I feel for working with the incredible artisan women in Mexico.
2. As a founder, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day. Where do you find joy in the everyday?
I find joy in the variety. No two days are ever the same. I’m naturally optimistic, so even the smallest moments bring me joy. Today, for example, I had a pop-up in Corpus Christi and felt so grateful to reconnect with longtime customers and meet new ones. Those conversations remind me why I do what I do.

3. When you think about the role of clothing in your life, not as a business but as a woman—what stories do your own favorite pieces tell?
I’m such a sentimental dresser. I hold on to pieces because they carry meaning. I wore a dress the other night that I bought 15 years ago when I started my first job in sales at Oscar de la Renta. I’ll never be able to part with it.
4. Is there something you wear—not for how it looks, but for how it makes you feel? What’s the story there?
That’s at the heart of what we do. I believe you can feel when something is handmade. Our pieces pass through so many hands, and there’s a sense of pride stitched into each one. There’s a warmth to it, a love, that I think you can truly feel when you wear it.

5. What’s a lesson you’ve learned from the artisans or collaborators you’ve worked with—something you carry with you beyond work?
I’ve learned the value of finding joy and purpose in the everyday. Many of the women we work with live with so much grace and happiness, despite having fewer material things. Their sense of community is beautiful and it’s something I deeply value. I don’t know what I’d do without my girlfriends.
6. Where do you go—physically or mentally—when you need to reconnect with your creativity?
Movement is essential to me. I love starting my mornings with Melissa Wood Health and a little time to journal. It clears my mind and helps me connect to new ideas with more openness and energy.

7. What feels sacred to you right now—whether in work, family, tradition, or daily life?
Family dinner. Even when it’s chaotic and it often is it’s one of my favorite moments of the day. Lately, I’ve been traveling for pop-ups, but I try to structure my days so I can return home the same evening.
