Prints That Start on Paper
Every Katie Kime print begins as an illustration in our Austin studio, not a stock pattern bought off a marketplace. That is why a print reads the same whether it is on a powder room wall, a yard of fabric, or a lucite tray on the bar cart — it is one drawing, scaled deliberately for each surface. The house and home range exists so you can take a print as far as you want: paper one wall, or run it through wallpaper, drapery, art and tabletop until the room reads as one idea.
Where to Start in a Room
The smallest room is usually the best first move. A powder room or entry takes only a few rolls, so a bold print costs less to try and makes more impact than it would across a great room. If walls feel like too much, start with fabric on a pair of pillows or a roman shade and let the print earn its place. Wall art is the lowest-commitment entry of all — a gallery print can move rooms when you change your mind. Order samples of anything you are weighing up first; the illustration detail and the way colour shifts in your own light are the two things a screen will not tell you.
