Montana is one of those places you visit and immediately wish you had more time– last September I spent a week national park-hopping and was blown away as I kicked off my trip with glacier park’s beauty. The turquoise lakes, the gorgeous {and challenging} hikes, the little dive bars and local live music. The wildlife! It’s a dream. Here are some highlights/must-dos to get you started:
Stay at:
many glacier hotel, glacier park lodge or the islander inn – these are all so cozy and perfect in their own little way and are near some of the best hiking + adventures. If you’d prefer to glamp, check out glacier under canvas – we visited their Yellowstone location and it was magical.
Hike at Grinnell glacier:
We agreed this was the best hike we’ve ever done. it was challenging, beautiful, full of wildlife {we came packin’ bear spray}, and had the most rewarding ending – a glacier that will sadly melt within the next 6 years.
Drive the “going to the sun” road –
This 52-mile scenic route was mind-blowing. Photos do it no justice, but I would recommend this drive to anyone.
