My guy turned 40 recently so my best party planning skills were called upon. With the help of Tiffany Craven we pulled off one of my favorite nights all year. A mariachi band greeted guests in our front yard for the cocktail hour as hors devours were passed. We then moved to the back yard and pool area where guests could pick their own spices, fruits and liquors for custom cocktails. Dinner was a design your own (gourmet) street taco bar by Eric Brown. For dessert, I chose a 3-d cake of a turkey – Greg’s favorite hunting season – that as you’ll see below lost part of its face before the party stated thanks to your dog, Duke. After making a toast to the guest of honor I surprised him with an 18-minute video of pictures of his life and friends speaking about him throughout it. He was in love with it and I think has watched it at least five more times since.
The night got rowdy in the yurt with guests leaving at 2:30 am. But what happens in the yurt stays in the yurt. Oh, what a night.
After guests picked their spices they got to take the rest home in branded tins as a favor.
