In Review: The Best Weekend Ever

This weekend I got time to reflect on last weekend, an overwhelming 72 hours of a birthday, engagement and a surprise party with in- and out-of-town friends and family there to celebrate. It all started on Thursday the 12th when I was told to pack a bag “with some beautiful things” and to be done with my work for the rest of the week by that morning. I obliged excitedly. I ended up at Hotel St. Cecilia where I turned both 29 and 30. This hotel has been a reprieve for me over the last couple of years, a place to hideaway in Austin and it’s got a special place in my heart, even more so now…

After a relaxing day of little surprises at every turn, he popped the question in the suite above, totally catching me off guard.

For (a rather blissful) 24 hours I was quarantined with phone restrictions to not tell anyone about the engagement until we “had had a day to ourselves.” I would come to know later that this was because of all of the planning and finagling taking place for a surprise birthday/engagement party that night. I arrived to friends, some Austinites, others flown in from near and far all standing together amidst my own furniture rentals, designs and textiles (secretly and perfectly organized and executed by partner and KK staff). It was quite a moment. Quite a weekend. Actually, the best weekend ever…
