After I bought my new car, I decided that I needed to not only upgrade my key chain in order to better suit my car. I found this DIY project and knew it was the perfect way to celebrate my first big purchase. This project has been one of my favorites! It is extremely easy and honestly only takes ten to fifteen minutes, and even better the results are amazing!
Supplies
Leather strips ( I found the tan and blue at Michael’s)
Super Glue
Clip
Key Chains
Scissors
Ruler
Hair ties or rubber bands
Instructions
1.) Cut a 1/4 by 3 in a strip of leather. Leaving a larger strip that is between 9 and 10 inches long.
2.) Take your smaller leather strip and wrap around key chain. Glue together at the bottom.
3.) After having glued, use the clip to hold together. Place aside to dry.
4.) Get your large strip of leather and measure our 3/4 on either end of the strip. Then measure out 1/4 strips on the leather. I found the best way to make all the strips even was to measure making small cuts as you go along, and then once they’ve been marked cut the full length.
5.) Grab your key chain, remove the clip, and glue at the end of the larger piece of leather begin rolling the leather. Make sure to glue every couple inches as you keep rolling.
6.) Once you have finished rolling the leather, wrap a rubber band or hair tie around the top of the key chain. Let the key chain dry. After it has dried, remove the hair tie and you have your new key chain.
These key chains look amazing and truly have added the perfect touch to my keys. I love them. This is the perfect weekend project, and this key chain is the perfect trendy upgrade.
